1659 Brandenburg-Prussia Schilling – Königsberg mint (Bahrfeld 1613?)

4 posts • viewed 40 times

Hello,

I recently discovered a 1659 Schilling in my collection, minted in Königsberg under Elector Frederick William of Brandenburg.

Based on my research, it seems to match Bahrfeld 1613 (similar stamp to 1610 variant) and is also listed in Schrötter 1917.
The recorded mintage is approximately 47,000 pieces.

I couldn’t find any similar examples online, so I would greatly appreciate your opinions on:

Whether this identification is correct

Any details about rarity or known surviving examples

Any information about the specific stamp type

Just checking if anyone has seen a similar 1659 Königsberg Schilling before – any thoughts would be appreciated!

Nominal: 1 Schilling

I have included photos of both sides of the coin. Any insights or comments would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thank you for your input!
Since the coin is from 1659 and seems similar to the 1658 issue, I was wondering:
How much interest do collectors usually have in the 1659 Königsberg Schilling specifically?
Is it considered rare or sought-after compared to the 1658 type?
Are there any known surviving examples of this year that you’re aware of?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully a member might know - I just found the pictures …
