1897 Shilling Coin South Africa [solved]

Another coin in a donation to Oxfam in Exeter. This coin has the correct dimensions and weight for an 1897 shilling, but it has a strong gold tone to it. Is this normal or does it make it a fake?

May have been gold plated at one time and has partially worn off. It looks real to me.

trhanks :-)

Someone has gold plated this Kruger 1 Shilling from the South African Republic.

1897 is the last date for the 3 & 6 Pence, 1 Shilling, 2 Shillings, & the 2 ½ Shillings.

Aidan.

Do you thin the gold plating affects the value? If so in which direction.?

Maybe they wnated it to look like a krugerrand!

Thanks

The plating is worth very little in itself.

This is now worth bullion value.

Aidan.

Thanks
