Help identifying an ND Token/Commemorative Coin - Battle of Chickamauga

3 posts • viewed 67 times

I have searched google, eBay, and numerous other sites and could not find this coin. I found older versions of this coin that showed background behind the cannon but nothing like this one. It was purchased at an antique market. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have attached what I believe to be the original coin (last two photos); I am not 100% positive, however.

Features are almost all approximated (as compared to another coin in my collection of the same size and weight. Medallion - The Civil War Sesquicentennial - United States – Numista): exact weight is 30.37g., diameter is 40mm, thickness 3mm, shape - round, orientation Medal alignment ^^, edge - reeded. I unfortunately do not know the composition of the coin, possibly bimetallic due to the weight of the coin.

Obverse: 1863 / Wilder Tower / Liberty / 38 stars around edge

Reverse: Battle of Chickamauga / “Do Your Duty In All Things” / Robert E. Lee / Chickamauga, GA / picture of a cannon, stack of cannon balls, and two crossed arrows.

Surprising to mix General Lee's maxim and this monument dedicated to the union army.

True, but here is what I believe to be the original bronze “medal” that I referenced. This is being sold on eBay but nothing for the one I have.
