Series dedicated to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Germany. The UNESCO World Heritage Sites are places of importance to cultural or natural heritage. Cultural heritage consists of monuments, groups of buildings, and sites, while natural heritage consists of natural features, geological and physiographical formations, and natural sites which are important from the point of view of science, conservation or natural beauty. The first site in Germany was inscribed in 1978.
The series consists of 16 coins of 100 Euros, made of gold (0.999), minted by the five German state mints (Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Hamburg) between 2003 and 2019. The obverses depict the coat of arms of Germany, and the reverses depict the World Heritage Site.
