So, I’ve got some of these Whitman coin books. I’ve had them since I was a kid. As I got back into coin collecting a few years ago after a long absence, I’ve gone back and forth on what to do going forward.
I’ve decided to stick with these books for a couple of collections and add some pages. But, it’s always bugged me that they put spaces for proof coins. I’m never going to put a proof coin in these books. So, since my books are from the 80s, and I’ll only have to modify a few pages, I’m thinking of scraping off the date and mint marks and reordering them, just having Pennsylvania and Denver mint marks in there. And then buying blank pages.
Has anyone done this? If so, how’d it work? Did the lettering come up easy enough or did it make a mess of things? Have you used the transfer sheets to redate the openings?
Yes, I should probably see someone about the OCD…
