Need help identifying this Roman denarius [solved]

4 posts • viewed 67 times

Hi, could I please get some help with identification? Silver denarius with a female bust, found by a metal detectorist in the UK. Based on hairstyle and portrait style, I believe it may be Faustina the Elder (Antonine period) rather than one of the Severan Julias, but I’m not certain. I’d really appreciate confirmation.

Any help is much appreciated.

Maybe Julia Maesa?

Part of the obverse is readable, (IVLIA M)AESA AVG

The reverse is trickier. I can barely see two letters at 9 hours. VD, as in PVDICITIA?

It can be this one:

N#276936

Hi, it's not a denarius, bronze coin, so what is the weight and diameter ? As? Dupondius ? Sestertius ? And yes Julia Maesa

H-18.2mm; W-19,1mm;

Weight: 2.91g

silver detected with XRF analyser.
