Edge on New Zealand 10 Cent

3 posts • viewed 59 times

I was looking trough a big badge of New Zealand coins I got recently, and by pure accident I saw my 1976 10 Cent was with a plain edge (see pictures)

Is this someone who have been a bit crafty, an accident or something else? It doesn't feel noticeable difference in size, fron the other coins.

Maybe referee knows something? @brismike

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

The smooth edge is caused by wear and tear. Mainly by use in Poker Machines that used coins. The old fasioned one armed bandits that you actually had to feed coins in and pull the lever.

Here is one of the old 10 cent machines.
