What are these small holes in the side of the 1888 1 Yen

Bought this 1888 Japanese 1 Yen off Ebay, without any photos of the side of the rim I didn't know these were on the coin. any ideas on what they are? How much would this affect value etc?

Thanks

The appearance doesn't scream FAKE to me but they could be test holes to check if it is silver (and not only plated).

Maybe this coin was in a necklace pendant, and the holes have been made to fix the pendant ?

Stuff like that usually gets soldered or mounted.

I have a double florin with similar holes at the top and bottom. Looking inside you can see that small screws had been used.
