Potential Jodhpur coin identification

Hi!

I have this coin which has been kicking about the house for a few years now, and none of us are sure if it even is a coin. We seem to remember getting it from someone at a museum a while back.

I've recently gotten into coin collecting so I went to look this up but after a few hours searching I haven't found any exact matches.

It looks to me like a mix of a 1/4 Anna 1 Paisa coin but honestly I have no idea. I'm also unsure which way up the coin is supposed to be so apologies if it is upside down or something!

Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to Numista!

For best ID results the diameter to the nearest millimeter and weight to the nearest tenth of a gram would be very helpful (please see guidelines). For Arabic writing the rounded bottoms of the letters go at the bottom, so the first photo should be rotated about 160 degrees counterclockwise and the second photo should be rotated about 90 degrees clockwise.

With that said, I was perusing the Jodhpur quarter annas in the Zeno database and found this example which appears to be a pretty good match for your coin, accounting for different dies and striking positions on the flan.

Jodhpur ¼ anna i.n.o. George VI/Umaid Singh, KM Y#41.4, early 1940s

If your coin is substantially heavier that 2.9 grams it might be a higher denomination.

This is the earlier heavier type ¼ anna KM#141 and thicker than the later issues and weighs around 10.5 gram, script is in Persian and dated 1937-39. the thinner ones have dates in  VS (the Vikrama Samvat era)

I agree with @Vic65

Yep, I only have cooking scales which are accurate to the gram and this weighed in at 9g so I would imagine you're correct with that! Super interesting, thank you both for the insight and for the help with the search!
