Unknown Ancient Coin (possibly Mongolia) [solved]

Hello all,

I have an unknown coin that I do not know how to identify as there isn't much writing to be found on it. I think the symbol on the reverse looks to be related to the mongols but I am not sure if it is the case.

Here are the specs:

  • Bronze in composition
  • Looks to be a head facing left and it seems to be reminiscent of Persian?
  • Reverse contains a symbol I do not recognize
  • Around 17 to 18mm in diameter
  • Around 1mm in thickness
  • No weight as I do not have the tool with me

Hope to hear what this is!

From the Kangju Kingdom/Kangju Tribal Confederacy, the ancient state based around Chach (Modern Tashkent) in Uzbekistan. The symbol on the rev is the “tamgha” of the Kangju, which were like dynastic symbols.

There are many types and it’s hard to ID the exact one due to wear, but at a bare minimum it is one of the handful of “retrograde tamgha” types, and likely 1st or 2nd period.
