Hello, I have been trying to research this coin.  I can only find 1 example on ebay, and they have no information on it either. This was the first silver coin my husband bought 40 yrs ago.  1.5" dia. And 1 Oz.  Any help would be appreciated theresa

The NCS was the National Commemorative Society. 

This is #19 in a series of 150 medals. They were not one ounce but 10/12 = .833 ounce.

sold in full sets by subscription, total 5249 sets.
