First of all, happy new year to all numismatists and notaphilists out there! This year, the Syrian pound is being redenominated! But the naming in parentheses for some 2009–2021 issue of Syrian banknotes are not consistent.

I have a proposal for that where:

  • Banknotes with the serial numbers like AB1234567 should be named all as “ascending serial number”.
  • Banknotes with the serial numbers like A/12 1234567 should be named all as “fractional serial number”.

Links for 50 pound banknotes:

1. N#210643 (consistent naming)

2. N#411956 (no parenthesis)

Links for 100 pound banknotes:

1. N#412116 (consistent naming)

2. N#207278 (consistent naming)

Links for 200 pound banknotes:

1. N#215561 (not consistent naming parenthesis unlike the 100 pound)

2. N#336625 (also the same reason as above)

And should be named as-is. Thank you.

Update: all of these were already validated. Thank you.
