US Treasury strikes the last pennies at Philadelphia Mint

2 posts • viewed 62 times

After almost 230 years, the United States will stop the production of pennies due to its high manufacturing costs. Even though, 300 billion pennies that are still circulating remain legal tender. Transactions will be rounded to the nearest five cents.

The first penny issued for official circulation was the Fugio Cent (N#23012), whereas the last one will be (as it was not minted yet) the 2025 P Shield Cent. (N#10969)
