I need some help identifying this gold coin, which is now mounted onto a ring. I’ve searched through Numista but haven’t been able to find a match. Any insights or references would be greatly appreciated.

One of the many medals commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of her reign.

What’s the diameter?

:)

19mm diameter

@frenchlover Intereting. Thanks. So it wouldn’t be called as a ‘numismatic coin’ since it’s a medal. Right?

Based on the diameter, couldn’t it also just be a mounted half sovereign?

Certainly, an evocation of this well-known coin, but not the same legend.

Didn’t notice that, then you’re probably right.

sovereigns, crowns and thalers were issued without visible denominations. They are still considered as coins and not medals

So where do I add it too? I don’t see a coin in the catalogue exactly the same as this one. Should I just create a new one for the catalogue?

Do you have evidence that it is not fake half sovereign with pre 1894 obverse and 1897 reverse?

I cannot tell that. I am new to numismatics. All I can say that it has been more than 40 years when it was purchased by a family member.
