For the coins of the Principality of Catalonia, whose king in Numista is Joseph Napoleon, I propose a change and placing them under a new period called Napoleonic Catalonia.
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?p=1&ru=163&e=catalonia_principality
My proposal is based on the history of Catalonia during that period, which is reflected in a new monetary system (the Peseta), which years later would become the monetary system of all of Spain.
Catalonia, from 1808 to 1814, during the so-called Spanish War of Independence with the invasion of Napoleonic troops, was never under the direct rule of Joseph Napoleon, going through the following periods: Invasion and resistance (1808-1809); Establishment of military government and total occupation of Catalonia (1810-1812); De facto annexation to the French Empire (1812-1813); Withdrawal (1813-1814).
Throughout these periods, Catalonia was never directly under the reign of Joseph Napoleon (Joseph I of Spain). Many auction houses refer to this period as Napoleonic Catalonia. Even reference catalogs, such as Aureo, separate coins from those of Joseph Napoleon (spanish coinage system) and Napoleonic Catalonia (new Peseta coinage system).
For all these reasons, I propose creating a new period called Napoleonic Catalonia (1808-1814) and classifying all these coins under this period, rather than under the reign of Joseph Napoleon.
If the proposal is accepted (as I believe it should be, hehehe), I will prepare a short description of the new period.
