Question on a Trajan coin similar to already existing page, but different

Should I make a new page since this coin is the same as N#253285 but has some slight differences? The ribbons behind Trajan are curvy on my coin but angled on the numista page, and the S of COS on the reverse is not separated but together behind Virtus, and his left foot is raised higher than his right.

Topic bump…

I don't see why not.

Your coin is the same type as the one you've linked, RIC II Trajan 355. Yes, there are some small differences and it is definitely worth adding it as an example. But please don't create a duplicate page, just because of this is a variation of a coin that is already in the catalog (see: https://en.numista.com/help/add-or-modify-a-coin-in-the-catalogue-184.html).

If you check the OCRE link on the coin page, there are a lot of variations within the same type. The separation of the reverse text for example is all over the place.

You can register it as an example at the bottom of the coin page:

It is quite tricky especially with ancient and mediaeval style coins, what is a type and what is a variant (hell even for some modern stuff). Each die is quasi unique but as I am a guy who dislikes playing spot the difference every time I want to add something to my collection I am of the opinion ‘as many pages as necessary, as few as possible’. I think you can use a well made comment section with explanations of small variants way better then 10 different pages you have to jump through or open in countless parallel tabs.

Thanks all, I actually was leaning more towards putting my variation in the comments section instead of a new page. Interesting to think these ancient die makers had the same design with variations, probably from making these dies about the same time with the same theme but trying out minor variations on the coin. I'll try better pics to add to the comments section as well.
