Can we have a new section for mules/errors on Numista?

I think it would be a great idea to add an entirely new section solely for mules and errors on numista rather than having them for circulating coins. Not only is it more organize this way, but it also makes it easier to look for mules in one single spot. The website has: Circulating commemoratives, proto coins, patterns, local coins, etc. So why not have mules/errors? Seems like a reasonable addition. 👍

You don't mean section, do you? Do you mean variants and not errors (error coins we normally don't show).

Normally, mules and errors are together with the coin (s) they derivate from, which is normal….

You can (probably) find all the mules doing this search

Easy way to find the mules…

Go to catalog, all issuers, remove any filters that you may have on & type in mule in the search box.

I tried it & got 10 pages of mules.

hope this helps

It’s just that I feel it’s quite misleading to say a mule is a “Standard Circulating Coin”. You can always link the mule variant of the coin in the description

Why? When they were minted they were intended for circulation and many did.

I‘m not sure that they were intended. They are considered to be mistakes by the mint; a variant not meant to be. Therefore, it would be strange to label it as standard circulating coins.

A mule is just a coin minted with the wrong dies and were always minted for circulation. I don't think a mule was ever deliberately created?

“Instances of this in the latter half of the 19th century were the product of questionable Mint employee practices to profit from the sale of such coins to outside collectors.”

(I've seen other reports of this over the years, but this article was the first I found in a search.)

Australia likes to put their mules on the same page as the normal coins on a separate year line so they can't be a different type.

Here a few from India

Oh yeah! That works! I like the organization. I just want the list of standard circulating coins to be more organized as a checklist for collection. Having some coins not have a checkmark because it’s a mule kind of feels off. Would it be okay if all mules were found in the description just like those other countries?

I really don't understand what you mean?

Rather than having an entire page for the mule coin, can we put an image just like the countries you showed?

We should do this for the US philippines?

Here is another example the 10 cent km65 from 1981, I just documented it, and saw the error in the year line

it was the collar , not the planchet, used! @brismike you're welcome to make the CR.
