Looks like you've got a 1942 D Wheat Cent.

Here is the page for it: N#908

The mintage is: 206 698 000

Yes, but the fun part is that in 1942 the penny was bronze. Only in 1943 did they change to zinc-coated steel.

So either this is a zinc-coated steel in the wrong year, or more likely a bronze coin coated in another metal by someone. The photo's are not detailed enough to tell.

It looks completely normal to me and not coated in another metal. Could just be lighting.

Thanks. I took a closer photo and it shows that the #2 was struck from the 3 o-clock to 9 o-clock position with another mint mark or date.

Just something struck the 2 and other parts during its 83 year life.

Thanks.

Please learn how to do that yourself!

Perhaps you could reply with the Numista link that instructs users how to crop photos…!

I don't have the link…. all pc and telephone apps concerning treatment of images tell you what to do!

Wow! Sorry I even ask anything on here. Not very helpful! I will definitely go somewhere else. Have a blessed day!

Try to ask your favorite search program “how to crop an image” and you'll get your answer, better than I can describe it!

O.k. You made your point! I have been really stumped with this coin. I am a NGC member and will just send the coin to the experts! You are no expert, just an ass!

Whatever you like, you can even call names…..

Well that one member in particular may very well be an ***, but several other members here answered your question and one even did a great job cropping your photo. Please respect the forum and ignore the trolls.

Your original “question” was to identify your coin. You got the answer in the first reply.  You then implied that your question was if you had a mint error or not. You got that answer in the next post.  You then accused the members of not being very helpful and you were taking your coins elsewhere.

Pardon me if I have little sympathy for you.
