Steve Jobs on the $1 Innovation Series 2026

The US mint unveiled next years designs of the Innovation/Innovators series.

California elected to put Steve Jobs of Apple fame front and centre on their coin. I wouldn’t have thought that was Steve jobs just from the portraiture, but it’s a nice looking coin overall. And i think the write up is quite fair on balance whether one uses Mac/Iphone or not

STEVE JOBS - CALIFORNIA

This design presents a young Steve Jobs sitting in front of a quintessentially northern California landscape of oak-covered rolling hills. His posture and expression, as he is captured in a moment of reflection, show how this environment inspired his vision to transform complex technology into something as intuitive and organic as nature itself. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “CALIFORNIA.” Additional inscriptions are “STEVE JOBS” and “MAKE SOMETHING WONDERFUL.”

Designer: Elana Hagler, Artistic Infusion Program Designer

Sculptor: Phebe Hemphill, Mint Medallic Artist

I would have said Washington could put another Tech Titan on its coin in the form of Bill Gates, but I guess he would have to be dead for a couple years for that . I’m sure he’d get a coin eventually, if not for Microsoft, then for his philanthropic endeavours
