Weights 6.4 grams

Size around 26mm

Is this coin real? It is 1739 or 1779? What type of mint?

N#11217

Your coin is missing 1.6 grams to fit 1730-1754 issues. That's a lot of wear and weight is important in period coins.

It can't be 1779. 1764-1796 cooper used different weight and different design.

If it was 1739 from Red mint, you would be proud owner of one of 10-19 existing examples. And I think crown is smaller on Red mint examples.

Ekaterinburg Mint variants below.

Bitkin 368th variant fits better as its 3 in catalogue is similar to yours after some wear. three in 367th variant is more rounded. If 367th variant had similar threes, then the part, which allows to identify type, is worn off on your example.

Yes, unfortunately, its condition is quite deplorable. Its already difficult to take photos of coins in this condition, and with my phones camera broken, it makes things even more difficult.

I dont know if I understood correctly, but in addition to the variation in writing style of the date, there is also the variation in the flower, correct? With and without petals, thats right?

Looking at it here in my hands with a light and my magnifying glasses, you can see it a little, its very worn out, but its completely round, with no marked petals.

1739 Red mint, Bitkin 296 - small crown in obverse, 5 petal rosette on reverse

1739 Ekaterinburg mint, Bitkin 367 - 6 petal rosette in reverse

1739 Ekaterinburg mint, Bitkin 368 - pink (as Dianthus plumarius) rosette

all use Gill's type 5 edge. “Reticulated”, image is available on coin's page

Novodels - based on image I would say “small crown in obverse and pink rosette in reverse”

1739 Bitkin N369 - plain edge (Gill's type 0)

1739 Bitkin N370 - Gill's type 1 edge, I would call it reeded and canted to the right (/////)

1739 Bitkin N371 - Gill's type 5 edge

Novodels are probably counterfeiting red mint “small crown” variant.
