Hi, I have a half krugerrand. By how much can the dimensions vary.

It should weigh 16.965g but weighs 17.03g.

The diameter should be 27.07mm but it is 26.92.

Is it definitely a fake?

Hello 🤖

Without pictures, it will be very difficult for anyone to help you. Could you please post clear pictures of each side of your item?

Please note that this is an automatic message. Feel free to ignore if it is not relevant.

Can we see a picture?

Is it actually gold because that could tell you if it’s fake or not

I couldn't tell you. I hope so lol

I bought it for a jeweller's/gold exchange shop in town.

A jeweller should be able to tell you if it is real gold.

If it is a fake, a metal that would give the same weight is gold-plated tungsten. You could see if the coin melts at 1100 Celsius. If it does, you had a real gold coin ;-). Gold also has a much higher thermal conductivity than tungsten, but that is hard to determine for the average person.

Your safest bet is a test by another jeweller.

it is bullion coin. Your jeweler should have surface check equipment to tell you composition of the coin.

You could also send that coin to ngc for authentication. If ngc tells you that it is fake, you can go to seller and tell to exchange it for real thing or report fraud to local law enforcement.

Bullion value: EUR 1736.76

That's well above NGC authentication fee, if you buy it for collection and not for bullion.

I don't think you need to worry.  Here are the specifications. There are very tight tolerances for these coins but yours is very close.

Nice coin regardless
