Today Series are used to list Emblematic/archetypal coins and their evolutions or counterfeits

See for example

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=8887

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=8890

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=4643

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=11328

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=11340

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=11363

What do you think about Emblematic/archetypal coins? Should some specific fields  be added to Series or a completely new object should be created?

we would need to

0 list all issuers and not only the one of the first coin added

1 add a description

2 identify the original emblematic/archetypal coin

3 identify its evolutions

4 identify its counterfeits

5 a timeline would be great

6 a map would be great

7 anything else?

Here you are misusing the series field. According to guidelines these should be in the see-also section.

I do like your idea, but then as a separate option. Maybe expand the see also section?

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

The series page already lists all the issues. For example https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=8887

If an issuer is not in the list of the series page, is because of it is not associated to the series.

When a page of object is edited, only series associated with its issuer can be added in the field of the series. Why are there objects in a series that do not have this series associated with their issuer? I assume these objects were moved from an issuer (associated with the series) to a new issuer (not associated with the series).

Hi,

It's fine to use the “series” features for this kind of series, where the same design and specifications spread across multiple coins and/or multiple issuers.

The list of issuers and the description are edited by the catalogue admins. Some of the examples you gave (including https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=8887) already have a detailed list of issuers and a description. You can request to modify series via the forum (section: Numista coin catalogue; ticket type: requesting the creation or the modification of a series).

The description can includes links and images if relevant.
