The only way to detail a hoard is to register each coin as an example, but it's rather annoying and you need a picture for each exemple.

What about adding a field to use the Set type as a Hoard?

Sets are designed for official mint sets, with many copies produced. Hoards aren't official and are unique instead of commercially available.

I agree with you.

So let's reformulate the question.

What about duplicate the Set model to create a Hoard model?

Sets are perfect for mass collectors coins while Hoards are unique and useful to scholars.

Are you going to maintain a negative vote as you don't want a Hoard feature?

What makes you think a new Hoard feature in Numista would be a significant benefit to people studying hoards?

I wrote scholars, not hoard scholars.

I find a significant benefit looking at hoards like this

instead that like this

Let's try in yet another way.

Object SET was launched one month ago (more or less)

Orthodox collectors find it useless (packaging is useless paraphernalia, I throw it away, object SERIES is enough) while heterodox  collectors are finally satisfied (I like possessing multiple samples of the same coin boxed in different packages, I needed this essential feature).

I'm suggesting to create a new type of series: EMBLEMATIC COIN.

You define a coin as the forefather, you link to it its offspring minted by the same issuers as well as counterfeits.

What would be your position?

Series are designed for official mint coins, with many copies produced. Emblematic coins aren't official and are unique instead of commercially available, they were not meant to be minted together…

Guess what? This object already EMBLEMATIC COIN exists, approved by high spheres as the page lists all the different issuers (even as a referee you won't be able to get this behaviour) and features like a description and external links.

See for exemple https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=8887

So what prevents a referee to misuse the new object SET or the old object SERIES as a HOARD object?

Should we be against a new feature only because we don't find it useful or should we be in favour of giving maximum flexibility to anyone?

The only reason I see to be against a new feature is that, being time and resources limited, other long awaiting features are still in need to be developed and they should be the priority.

Hello,

I very like the idea of referencing hoards on Numista. I hope we can implement it in a nice way in the future. For the moment, hoards are visible on Numista only as a free text field for the examples.

I don't see it as a top priority though.

I would like to clarify that we should not mis-use the current fields for series and for sets to register hoards.

Just for reference, here are two links to nice portals for hoards:

https://chre.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/hoard/17399
http://coinhoards.org/id/igch2352

well noted it's not a priority and that interesting websites already implemented this feature.

I won't misuse sets neither series to register hoards, promised

I upvoted because of the great idea ;-)
