Identifying Chinese commemorative silver coin [solved]

Unfortunately I cannot read Chinese. I believe this is a coin, but it may be bullion or a medallion. Apologies if this thread is in the wrong spot.

I’m trying to determine what this is, beyond being a commemorative issue from 2019. Is it actually silver, or is it simply silver-plated? Coin or bullion or medallion? Real or fake? So far I’ve had no luck finding any information about it.

Weight: 45.06g

Diameter: 60.0mm

Thickness: 2.4mm

Non-magnetic

It came in a plastic case, that based on Google Translate appears to be a keepsake case from a travel agency.

Thanks in advance!

The rest of the case says 60th National Day Commemoration.

Thank you, that makes sense given the dates on the reverse. Are you able to read any of the writing on the coin itself? If so, does it indicate a monetary value or silver content or anything similar?

Thanks

The 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China
1949 A 2009
80g

Not a coin as no denomination.

Thanks, That’s super helpful!

The “80g” is really weird since it only weighs 45g. That doesn’t make me optimistic about it being real silver.

I saw several sites selling it. They said silver but no fineness.

Here's a translation from one site:

Two 15g silver coins of the 1980 Winter Olympics women's figure skating, with box and certificate; two 80g silver medals of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 2009. All are oxidized.

And this on facebook:

Very interesting. Where mine says “80 g”, the photo you posted says “1 oz Ag .999”. The photo also has an “Ag .999” on the obverse (above the date) that mine is missing.

I just re-weighed it as a sanity check, and it weighs exactly 45g. It’s non-magnetic, and I just did an ice test on it, which it passed (the ice started melting immediately). The toning looks like real silver too, in my opinion. Maybe it is silver, but just a knock-off that’s underweight and/or not super pure. Very odd.

Edit: I did a ping test too. It had the high-pitch ping I expected, but the ping didn’t last/resonate as I would expect.

Status changed to Solved (dndn, 30 Aug 2025, 19:55)

Just got back from the LCS, where the owner did a ping test and tested on his sigma and concluded it was just silver plated. Marking as solved. Thanks.
