Found this small bronze coin near Silifke/Gülnar, Turkey (ancient Cilicia region). Need help identifying!

Details:

  • Size: Very small, approximately 15-17mm diameter (smaller than a dime)
  • Material: Bronze, appears quite old and worn
  • Location found: Silifke/Gülnar area, Turkey (historically part of Cilicia)
  • Estimated age: Medieval period, possibly 4th-14th century

Visible features:

  • Obverse inscription: Can clearly read letters M E L ? M P around the top (middle letter unclear)
  • Central figure: Seated royal/imperial figure wearing crown/hat, holding what appears to be a staff or scepter
  • Style: Typical medieval Byzantine or Armenian Cilician design
  • Condition: Well-worn but main features still visible
