RIC 1 51- Rome mint, sestertius stuck under Gaius (Caligula) in 40-41 AD, obverse shows Pietas seated , draped and veiled holding patera in right hand, and resting left arm on small figure draped Standing on base. Inscription reads:  C CAESAR DIVI AVG PRON AVG P M TR P IIII PP Pietas = Gaius Caesar, great grandson of the divine Augustus, princeps (Augustus), high priest, holder of tribunican power, for the fourth time, father of the nation, Piety.  Reverse shows; frontal view of hexastyle garlanded temple, surmounted by quadriga, in front position stands Gaius (Caligula) veiled and togate- sacrificing with patera over garlanded altar.  One acolyte leads a bull to altar on right, a second acolyte holds patera. Inscribed:  DIVO AVG = to the divine princeps (emperor), SC  = by decree of the Senate.  Joe Geranio photo Collection and text.
