RIC 1 198, Lyon 68-  struck 9-8 BC Lugdunum mint. A wonderful issue in gold (aureus) showing some beautiful rhetoric and die engraving.  Augustus shown laureate with laureate head. Inscription is :  AVGVSTVS DIVI F / Reverse inscription reads:  C CAESAR AVGVS F = son of the divine (Augustus). Iconography show Gaius Caesar grandson of Augustus galloping right on horseback holding sword and shield in left hand, with Aquila between two standards in the background.  Note the depth of the Aquila and standards in background, I love the die engravers depth perception on this gold aureus.  Joe Geranio Text-
