Mystery 1811-W 5 Franc coin in Bronze

Hi

Whilst going through my partner's deceased mother's coin collection I came across what appears to be an 1811-W Napoleon 5 Franc coin in Bronze. After extensive searches, I can't find any reference to a bronze version of the KM-694.16 silver coin issued. Could this be a counterfeit? The weight (25g) and diameter (37mm) are the same as the silver one, and it has edge lettering, albeit well worn.

Obverse: Laureate head right, NAPOLEON EMPEREUR.

Reverse: Denomination within wreath

Reverse Legend: EMPIRE FRANCAIS

If it is a counterfeit, is it worth anything?

Thanks

I don't think to a counterfeit.

Thanks but that link is for a silver coin. This is definitely not silver.

Contemporary counterfeits are known in tin

Its a contemporary circulating counterfeit. We can see trace silvering on the right side within the lettering.

Thanks for confirming that colonialjohn. Don’t suppose it’s worth anything?

A contemporary circulating counterfeit is indeed valuable !

Similar to some british counterfeits of the same period, they were brass coated in silver this one appears to be copper coated in silver
