Can you please either

add spaces and points to first 5 rows

or

remove spaces and points from last 5 rows?

see for exemple

 N#50199

Other values are with no space and no .

N#52733

The entire Numista catalog is set up that way and is dictated by the general guidelines.  The problem is that there are many different separators used world wide so using a dot is foreign to many users.

@fjjohnson thank you for your prompt reply, sorry if I was not clear.

I would like to see the same rule applied everywhere, from the first to the last row of ITL thousands values.

Right now it's like this

I have no preferences for dots nor spaces nor apostrophes, I would like to see

5000 Lire (5000)

10000 Lire (10000)

or

5 000 Lire (5.000)

10 000 Lire (10.000)

I am not for or against your proposal. I am merely stating two issues:

1. The guidelines currently dictate that 5,000 should be 5000 and that 10,000 should be 10 000. The same rule is in fact applied everywhere.

2. The Italian coins are no different than any other country.  The change you are asking for has to be applied to all countries and all item types (or none).

So, if you want a change the place to request it is in the Numista website forum as an idea to improve Numista.

Clear? Just trying to help.

I see, quite strange

Not really strange at all. Many scientific and certain publishing style guides advise thousand indicators only for 5 digit numbers and up and Numista chose on that does the same.

well, good to know, I learned something new

We choose this approach deliberately. Humans can cognitively recognize small numbers, up to “4”. From “5” upwards, people start “counting” which is more cognitively demanding and also leads to counting mistakes. So up to thousands (with 4 digits, we couple them together) and above that, we divide them by groups of three. It helps with readability.

In database, values are stored with spaces: the point you are seeing comes from your own profile settings
