I agreed to catalog a friend's collection.  Having done this with a collection id for his coins on my Numista account, I now wish that I had just set up a separate account for him.  Does anyone know how I import this collection from my account to an account that he establishes?

You can't.  Best you can do is export to excel file then enter them in the new account.

If you know how to use the API and can write scripts you could use the exported Excel file to automatically populated the new collection (over a certain amount of time depending on the size of the collection) .

I remember reading two collections can be created on one account.

So yours will be on one collection, and his on the other.

Will try to find a link.

Edit - there is this from 6 years ago

Maybe that would be a solution.

I wrote a python script that can import a collection - export his collection using the export tool & then have him import it into his own account using the script:

Thanks, but I already went ahead and reentered his collection using the export feature to a spreadsheet with the N# field to quickly get to the type that I needed for the reentry.  Hopefully, someone else will find your work useful.
