Banknote $1000 Series 1934A

Hello everyone! I recently found this Series 1934A $1000 Federal Reserve Note (Chicago, G00224832A) and I’d like to get an informal appraisal.

Photos are attached below – front and back, along with closeups.

It seems circulated with folds and corner wear. I would appreciate your thoughts on condition (grade?) and approximate market value.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Nice! I like the design of this 1000 bill.

In that grade, I would say face value plus 10%, if you can get it.

I paid face value plus 1% for mine, in similar grade, but that was part of a deal where I was selling some notes, and the 1000 was essentially cash :)

+1

I would say, just b/c these are popular collector trend, that anythings possible & you might get that premium.

My problem with these old high denomination notes (besides high seller's fees) is that they were usually washed.  I wouldn't touch a note like this (unless I could inspect it) if I were inclined to purchase something that people never used (but stashed in their Safety Deposit boxes or were exchanged between banks).  I keep seeing these posted on social media & the posters talking about “that they just had to have one” (so they can show their friends!)

There's also too many “issues” - the front teller's stamp & either stains or holes on the reverse that make notes like this hard to sell. I'd say apparent “Fine 15 to VF20” with the details noted. Such rounded corners on notes like these make them part of the vast majority. Virtually no firmness to the paper (as far as I can see - from the photos).

Depending on which brands, you can buy up to 4 cars with this back in those days!😆

I would say your note is worth about $2000. Here's one in worse condition than yours, which sold for $1775.
