Images of coin of circulating

Why are we using images of poof coins to show how coin look like for circulation. Poof coin should not look like the coins in your change. And why are we using drawings from the mint. These are not the coins found in circulation. Just one of my pet-pee.

   thank you daryl

Numista guidelines:

  • Drawings and computer-generated images should only be used when no photograph is available.
  • Photographs of regular strike coins should be preferred to proof strikes.

I think proofs are used because people like shiny objects.

I do agree with you.

Oh yes shinny objects for shinny people.

It is, what it is, or is it.

In the past I preferably used proof issues for example pictures because you could see the details better on high contrast pictures.
The CGI images are the first available and when a high quality picture is present only few members provide pictures of actual coins.

I asked for a way to mark CGI images so that the pages still pop up in the contribute section of members but some ref was quite against it (maybe he as very many CGI images in his catalog or it is not easy to discern real from fiction).

oh, shiny people with egos.

It is, what it is, or is it.

Idolenz  i can live with the old type of poof coin. But the frosted ones to me hide details.
