I can't figure out how to input the serial number of my banknote into the required field on Numista.

This is the serial, screen-grabbed from Word (which is the only place I can get the sequence correct):

But this is how it gets pasted here:

332/ م 8221946

It is something to do with the م no doubt.

Is there a trick to it?

Good luck, I would never combine left and right hand writing it never works for me.

If you don't write it completely in Arabic why keep the letter?

Personally I keep the serial how it is on the note and ad a complete transliteration as a comment.

There's a reason those parentheses are used on the year line comments.

The reason was I couldn't find a Roman translation of the Arabic letter.

I would prefer it all one way or the other, I agree. So far I've managed to convert all my notes into the Roman.

I might have to rethink it.

Does anyone know what the Romanisation of the mysterious letter is?

I assume you want the Latin letter. It's m.

Thanks, yes.

I did not recognise the symbol in the Wiki list I use.

Status changed to Solved (odd job, 24 May 2025, 23:03)

Have you tried typing it to the Notepad and then from there cut and paste?

The only problem I have is the prefix, as it usually got it the other way round.

As @Idolenz says it is not so easy.

His method is probably the best, I tried it here now:

To get the actual sequence of the arabic letters, I used this page:

Arabic Keyboard Online • Lexilogos

To get that exact sequence, I typed in this order (using their virtual keyboard).

The main numeric sequence (you type this as normal, left to right):

Next is the alphanumeric, which includes the space, the arabic letter and the slash. These you type from right to left:

Last, is the three numbers in the prefix. These you type normally from left to right:

The thing to do now is not to try to highlight the final entry with your mouse and press CTRL-C, you use the “Copy” button on that page

You can then paste that here.

٨٢٢١٩٤٦ م/٣٣٢
