I am heavily overweight in coins and banknotes from my own country. This makes my maps very dull when viewed. Would it be possible to change the colouring scheme on the maps.

1. Give the palette more variety for the colours . Use the full RGB colour palette  for gradations in the display,

2. Give the low numbers 0,1,2,3 distinct colours. They are the most common in my collections. It would give a quick visual on which countries I might like to get more examples.

3. Give the highest number its own colour. This is already there. It looks as though this number is used to define the gradations  currently.

Ongoing debate since 2017.  Still open.  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic56354.html

Hello,

1. I'm not really convinced that using the full RGB palette would help making the map more readable. It would be a very unusual approach for a heatmap.

2. Identifying countries from which you have only 1 coin or only 2 coins is not the purpose of the map. If you wish to see the exact numbers, you can click “View the country list with my collection quantities” on the same page as the map, at the bottom of the page.

3. The scale indeed has its maximum defined by the country with the higher number of items. It could indeed be interesting to evaluate other ways to draw the map, maybe using the average or the median. It would help better distinguishing countries with low numbers, but countries with high numbers would be out of scale.

I suggest we continue discussing and tracking the idea at https://en.numista.com/forum/topic56354.html.
