Hi all,

I have a few suggestions for the addition of new manufacturing techniques. I've added examples below each suggested technique.

Additionally, I think it would be a good idea to create a category of secondary techniques. For example, colored coins would be a secondary technique of milled. So this coin, N#323, would be categorized as milled for its primary technique, then subcategorized as colored.

Here are the techniques that I think would be better as secondary techniques.

  • Colored
  • Countermarked
  • Counterstamped
  • Counterstruck/Overstruck (this would be a new technique for when a coin is struck using another coin as the planchet)
  • Cut
  • Engraved
  • Inlaid
“Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.”

I just realized you can add two manufacturing techniques when creating a new catalog entry. For some reason, I never noticed you could do that! Now having said that, I want to amend my proposal to just adding a few new techniques:

  • Fired
  • Sawn
  • Pressed
  • Counterstruck or Overstruck
“Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.”
