Coin 100 dong Vietnam Badminton 2004 Athens summer olympics [solved]

At the numista website, this coin (Schön# 153) is indicated as having “reeded” edge. In other websites, it is listed as smooth, no reeds. I just bought this coin, and the edge is smooth, not reeded. Is this a mistake in the Numista catalogue? Does anyone have this coin? Is the coin with smooth edge a fake or a reprint from another issuer? Thank you for any clarification on this issue.

The coin looks just like the image in the Numista website, but the edge of the coin is not shown, lust listed as “reeded”.  I send the photos of the face of the coin and the edge, completely smooth.

I believe it was a mistake when listing the coin on Numista. The picture on the Numista page shows a plain edge too (the edge is visible at the top of the obverse and the reverse picture). I changed the description to plain edge. Thanks EduardoPT for pointing out the mistake!

Thanks very much Bram. I am a lot more relieved now. I had a certificate of origin and I was confused with Numista's description.

There are more coins from 2004 Vietnam relative to Athens Games. They are all listed as with “reeded edge”. They may also be incorrect. I do not have those coins, however. I am collecting Badminton coins as a minor subset of my collection because my wife is an international World Badminton referee and it is a special present for her - I only miss two of them as listed in Numista, but with a rarity index of 100… can't find them! I will keep trying, though.

Good luck hunting … it's always a pity finding the final piece and the hunt is over.
