Hello,

Tenasserim-Pegu refers to a region in Modern Myanmar from where a number of tin and tin-lead coins are known, mostly anonymous. We already have one in the catalogue, and I do hope we can set it up as an issuer under Myanmar (modern) so that we can add the coins from that region. There are a number of types that are rather diverse and interesting, and are very important to local numismatic history.

Here is the specimen in our catalogue.

N#281978

Thanks,

The addition of a “Myanmar States” section would be a welcome addition in my eyes. Alongside Tenasserim-Pegu pieces, there are a large number of ethnographic proto-currencies used by various tribes, cities, and kingdoms in Myanmar I’d love to add to the catalog under this hypothetical section.

I agree, and I was planning to ask for them later, but if we can get them sooner, that is better.

@ngdawa  Do you agree we could start by setting up the sub-issuer "Tenasserim, Region of " under Myanmar?.  I see these coins attributed as “17th-18th century”) with no narrower date range.  And no rulers.

Any thoughts on currency/denominations welcomed.  I do not see anything other than “cast tin unit.”

I see no reason why wouldn't be implemented, so I give you guys free hands. Cheers for the shout!

OK, this issuer has been set up as Tenasserim-Pegu, Region of, with currency “Tin Units.”  No ruling authorities are know as far as I can tell.

If you go back to the coin originally linked, it has been moved.

In populating this issuer, I suggest starting with “main types” featuring large differences in weight, and different combinations of the design features (bird left, bird right, antelope left, antelope right, etc.) rather than the variants.  Also it looks like the lead objects are weights, rather than coins.

I will also set up Mergui//Myeik as a mint to capture the few coins I see from there (I believe it was in the same region).

Thanks! I will start adding soon.

The mints Tenasserim and Mergui are also now created.
