As posed, Does Anybody know why the Guptas never issued Fractional Dinars? We have plenty of Gupta dinars/staters. but to my understanding, no half or quarter staters. The empires which issued gold and preceded the Guptas all issued fractional gold - the Kushans, Indo Greeks, etc - but this does not extend to post-Gupta States.
