I am in possession of this coin in a very large quantity, am I facing a loss on account of Bulgaria adopting to Euro soon and this coin getting demonetised?

It could be that they will be exchangeable for a year after introduction (first 6 months without a fee) (LINK).

And what shall people like me do who are overseas and cannot take coins to Bulgaria?

If you can't take it to Bulgaria why do you have such a large amount of them in the first place?

And yes all countries generally do exchange old currencies for new if you do find someone to take care of it.

Personally in the UK there are companies that buy foreign currency coins since the Bureau de Change only accepts notes.

Try looking up terms like “leftover holiday money” and see if there is someone who will buy the coins.

I don't want to sell it at fraction to those ‘leftover’ thieves, I could send it through someone going to Bulgaria but since this is not a mainstream country, hardly anyone goes there.

I just hope now that they can't adopt Euro for a couple of years, on the account of inability of fulfilling the benchmark.

Why do you ask questions like that?

This would rely on finding someone who just happens to be going to Bulgaria and to do a favor for you, while also hauling the coins in their luggage (at the cost of their own luggage allowance). It really depends on how many of these coins you have, and the easiest method is to just sell them to the leftover people otherwise you'll just have to enjoy them as they are.

I have a €35 deal with the OP since more than a year, and he doesn't find a way to send his part of the exchange.

Bulgaria is a popular holiday destination for brits, especially to the sunny beach resort near nessabar. Sadly the euro will make the prices in Bulgaria rocket, in 2006 my wife and I had a three course meal each and a bottle of wine for the equivalent of £10 in st vlas
