Hi All,

I'm hoping for some clarity on identifying the different between the Mumbai dot mintmark that is shown for the 1 Rupee coin in 1993 & 1994.

So far I haven't been able to find any pictures or documents on it, other than the fact that there is a difference in the diamond mintmark.

Are there lines actually meant to be for the two types of diamond mintmarks, so entered incorrectly, or is there evidence to prove there is a dot mintmark for Mumbai, and how would I be able to go about identifying it against the Noida mintmark, which is also a dot.

Thanks,

Andy

Maybe that'll help?

Thanks Sjoelund.

I did find this when searching for the Mumbai dot mintmark.

According to your sheet, the Mumbai dot only existed before 1988, so are the two entries for Mumbai in 1993 and 1994 actually for the two diamond versions you have documented? One should say Narrow Diamond and the other Wide diamond?

That would make more sense to me.

I have NOT any 1993/94 with a round mint mark in my collection, anyway how would a person be able to say minted in Bombai and not Noida?

It's clearly a misunderstood copy/paste from the SCWC during the creation of numista. Here is what SCWC tells us, which corresponds to my documentation wide and narrow diamond!

That's exactly what I thought too.

I'll submit a change to update those lines to be Mumbai Wide Diamond and Mumbai Narrow Diamond.

Thanks for your help Sjoelund!

Four suggestions if I may - circled on copy below

1 - It is Mumbai not Mumbay

2 - Change Royal mint to Royal Mint

3 + 4 - All others on there have Mint first then country

Pretoria Mint, South Africa

Kremnica Mint, Slovakia
