Hello,
The Chalukya Empire is without an actual currency, it would be ebenficial to have one, and the present category for the Empire is in fact an amalgamation of several Chalukya dynasties. While we are not going to split the chalukyas anytime soon it seems, with the increasing number of Chalukya coins being added, it may be best to make one or two currencies to manage the listings. The Chalukyas have issued silver dammas (1 gram or so) and gadhiyas (4 to 5 grams) and in gold issues, Gold pagodas, fanams (1/28 of a nominal pagoda) and ¼ fanams are known. This is why I think we may need two currencies, as earlier issues were primarily silver issues while later issues were primarily gold issues. Thus, by splitting it around 900 or 1000 AD, we can basically use two systems and thus have reasonable fractions as well.
Thanks,
