I was adding signatures to Biafra and stumpled upon this 1x note on Bank Note Museum:

http://www.banknote.ws/COLLECTION/countries/AFR/BIA/BIA0001.htm

My question is if anyone has more information on it? Should it be made to a new yearline or should it be a new entry under eg. "contemporary counterfit"? Or alternatively a new entry as a standard banknote, as the sun could be argued to be a big enough difference?

The note we have is with rays around the sun:

It does not look like a counterfeit to me. Print quality is too good.

All of the orange print on the note is very faintly impressed, or not present, throughout the underprint and around the 5 on the right side. Also, the purple pattern around the 5 on the right is very faint on the BNM note.

I would say that it most likely either a print error or a note which has had some ink washed out in some way, in particular the orange ink .

Hello!

As I had already briefly discussed with Jamtrup, the record of this "variant" only exists (so far) in the BNM; and with a Pick reference that simply does not exist.

In my opinion, even if it is not a counterfeit, it does not deserve to be registered here in Numista. If any user brings us more concrete information about it, we can review it.
