Dear all,  can somebody help me to identify these coins? Thanks for your help

Clement

Soldino of Genoa for the top one perhaps.

Please provide information on size to help with more precise identification.

Is certainly a possibility for the top one. Is 16 mm and 0,61 gr

The second one weighs 0,34 gr and has a diameter of 13 mm

Dear all,

The top one is indeed, with little doubt, a soldino from the republica di genua. It is the version with a point under the castle’s door. They exist apparently in dated and not dated versions. I cannot tell which one it is because exactly the part where the date could be is missing. The legend should be CONRADUS II RO REX IV around the cross. What is still readable is US II RO REX. The legend around the castle is DUX GUB REIP GEN (date) and GUB REI is still (more or less)readable.

New picture, where you can better see all this and a link with more info

Merci a tous, thanks all, for pointing me in the right direction.

If possible to give additional photos of the second one, this might help.

As the first was from Genoa, my eye thinks it sees the Visconti family serpent (Milan) on the second one (right photo), but it could also be an S (sometimes medieval Italian coins have the letters which coomplete the legend in the center,  I V S being one of the common endings).

Thanks, I will try to make better pictures as soon as possible

I’m afraid they are not a lot better.

It helps.  I almost wonder if it could be a coat of arms used on Hungary coins like here:  N#51222

… but with the sides switched (horizontal bars on right, double-barred cross on left).  Maybe that's way off …

Like this you mean

I can’t see how what remains of the legend would fit in. Even if you look at other dinars of Hungary from 1400 onwards.

Clement

I agree.

Not sure there are enough letters visible to help.  I think on the shield side I can see only  — A – N A O — ?

On the other side, I don;t have a good guess on the design or lettering, but maybe you can see more with the coin in hand.

Unfortunately I cannot read more text… the best possible picture (have been experimenting with filters and lights) is this one

But it is still not possible to read

With the help of you all, a number of hypotheses have been tested, but the coin remains a mystery. I have new pics from under a microscope so maybe this brings new ideas. Thanks in advance for your help.  Clement
