Seller has said the ring is 9ct but the coin/token

 doesn't look authentic.

What do you mean with authentic? Does the seller claim it is a specific coin? What research have you done yourself?

No coin looks like that. I can't find a token/medal either. They all have George VI on the obverse.  

 

9ct? .375 gold?
