Is there any way to determine the San Francisco mint struck coins ?  TC

If they are “real” restrikes they should use original dies so there should be no way to distinguish them. But they probably used planchets out of regional silver and you could make an isotope analysis of the material and you if you can get access to an isotope distribution library of the American ore deposits there is a chance 😉.

That information is on the coinpage:

Also, Krause says there's a difference in beads:

I don't think that was the question. Of the total of 10,250,000 restrikes can you tell if they are one of the 2,000,000 minted at the San Francisco Mint or one of the 8,250,000 minted at the Mexico Mint?

Yes, that is what I should have asked - thank you for the clarification.  TC

Now - at the risk of more confusion - if we can get the photo shown in the 1898 ORIGINAL line moved down to the RESTRIKE line ……….

Unfortunately, Examples of the type cannot be edited like the Past sales can.  Probably should have been caught when approved.

examples can be edited and moved between variants (LINK)

So they are.  Wonder what I was looking at. Thanks.

I'm sorry, I've misinterpreted the question and didn't see that line in the comments sector.

Hey TC, according to the article below it seems all 1949 restrikes available today were minted in Mexico City.  That is if the article is to be believed (It is sourced, but you never know).

I just added this information/link to the Peso page.  We shall see if it's accepted.  If it is, please feel free to modify accordingly.  I kept it brief.

Thanks!
