Hello everyone,

I need help to identify this coin.

When i bought it, it was labeled as a Fals from Post-Mongol/Qara Qoyunlu (Album 2563), but i am pretty sure if this is NOT correct. I have checked on Numista and on Zeno.ru, but i can not find this type anywhere.

I have found some Ilkhanate coins with a similar obverse, but not an exact match.

Obverse: Sun with face ("Sunface"), around that an unidentifyable (at least to me) script.

Revers: Again script, or maybe a tamgha? I am not sure.

AE, 26mm, 3,26g

If anyone out there knows more about this coin, or knows some website where to find more infos, it would be very appreceated :)

Thanks in advance and Cheers,

Hama1221

Don't know but the reference of Album says:

The attribution is not correct as OP indicates. This is Album 2563:

and Album 2563A:

A gallery of my coins and artifacts can been seen on FORVM Ancient Coins

Then the Numista reference is wrong

Don't know but the reference of Album says:

Yes thats true, but Album 2563 (and 2563A) is about Aq Qoyunlu empire, not Qara Qoyunlu empire (similar name, but different entity)

If you check the relevant page on Zeno, there are other examples too: https://www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=6765

None of them is an exact match, but they have similar ‘sun face with tears’ design.

I have checked out all the possible Golden Hoard coins here in Numista and on Zeno, but i just cannot find anything that matches.

Some close calls on the obverse, but the number of rays from the sun (11 in my coin) dont match. Also i havent found a single reverse that would come even close :(

For now i am again stumped, and any new advice from you guys (and girls) would make me happy, but as of now, i have again no clue.
