Same design and size, paper and polymer notes: examples needed

Hi All

Does anyone have any handy examples of notes that are the same design, issued as paper and then as polymer?

The two notes must be the same size, same design and all that is different is the serial number, date and signature. Needs to be the same printer also.

I would like to get some of these pairs, preferably items that aren't too exotic so I can buy them.

N#206773 and N#397454 could there be two examples in this sense?

That's a good one, minor differences in design. Thanks!

I believe that would be impossible if you are looking for a matching pair as all polymer notes are printed/manufactured with one or 2 or more see-through windows on it. This is one of the few reasons for having a polymer note - clean, better life span plus some extra security features added to the note.

As long as a large portion of the note is the same design it will work for me. The size must be the same though.

Probably the closest I have at the moment is paper vs Tyvek notes (those Haiti, Costa Rica and Isle of Man notes).

But I would like something with a true modern polymer. Those Samoa notes are a good example.

Without checking, try Jamaica, Barbados, Singapore ($2, $5 and $10), and the latest Bermuda $2 and $5. I am sure there are more (Thailand?).

Thanks I will check those out. Barbados will be nice if it works because I already have several of the 2022 polymer notes.

I think Barbados is incorrect? My mistake.

Update:

My apology. The designs for the last paper and the new polymer are not the same, as the polymer notes are all printed in vertical formats. 😀

You may have to leave your condition - "same printer" as this may be a bit tough.

Thanks!

The 5 Ringgit is pricey, but the Thai notes are easy to get. That's the best pair so far, I reckon.

Which one? The paper or polymer?😄

Here's all the ones I can find. I can't guarantee they all have the same printers, but most should.

Bermuda - The current 2 and 5 Dollars may work depending on how strict you are on the design being identical.

Botswana - 10 Pula - P# 30 and 35

Cabo Verde - 200 Escudos - P# 71 and 76 - notable because this one was a switch from polymer to paper, rather than the other way around

Chile - 2000 Pesos - P# 158 and 160

Dominican Republic - 20 Pesos - P# 169 and 182 - specifically the later 3 dates of P# 169

Hong Kong - 10 Dollars - P# 400 and 401 - one of my favorites

Israel - 20 New Sheqalim - P# 59 and 64

Libya - 5 Dinars - P#81 and its polymer equivalent

Mauritius - I believe every denomination of the current design has both paper and polymer versions now.

Mexico - 20 Pesos - P# 106 and 116

Nepal - 10 Rupees - P# 31 and 54 - Honorable mention here - these have portraits of different kings but are otherwise identical in design.

Nicaragua - The current series 500 and 1000 Cordobas were made in both paper and polymer.

Nigeria - The current series 5, 10, and 50 Naira were made in both paper and polymer.

Sao Tome - The current 5 and 10 Dobras were made in both polymer and paper, like the Cabo Verde, polymer came first here.

Saudi Arabia - 5 Riyals - P# 38 and 43

Singapore - The current 2, 5, and 10 Dollars were made in both paper and polymer.

Thailand - The Series 15 50 Baht was made in both polymer and paper.
Zambia - 500 Kwacha P# 39 and 43 - can't match printer on this one

Thanks!

To my shame I already have the Hong Kong pair, I didn't remember this!

I hope it is not the RM5 polymer note that your were referring to as pricey, as this is what I have, all in UNC condition😁.

Hehe, you got a lot!

But no, it was the 2001 paper note that was pricey.

Yes, I do have a lot, and they are all different prefixes (every 5 pieces). If you are referring to P41b, I believe I have 35+ pieces too😂 (sorry, I am not rubbing this in).

Probably the best selection is from PWPW, they released nine notes as part of the Polish Bisons Project.

I recently added these to the catalogue:

PWPW - Polish Bisons Project - Poland – Numista

These are exonumia but a nice selection of coating and substrate options.

Look at the banknote catalogue for Mauritius.

There are a few examples of paper note designs now used on polymer.
