I know that was a sore subject several years ago, but I'm glad to see them on the site, I enjoy having all of my coins all documented in one place.
I have been adding my collection to the catalog, and thankfully we're getting more and more added.
I'm not sure this was the exact way to go about this, but I've reached out to PennyCollector.com and requested permission to use their entire catalog as a reference and pictures for every single elongated penny, they're the only site I believe that has the locations and pictures of them, that way Numista can have them documented as well. I haven't heard back from them yet, but I would like to know if anyone else would like to contribute to the catalog, or if they don't want to post them, I would be happy to upload them.
Any thoughts?
Well done for getting in touch with PennyCollector.com !!!
I too came across this site last year and thought that it was excellent, although a bit basic and less accessible than Numista in its design. Great that you've been in touch, but I suspect that they will want to keep their content secure (I seem to remember there is a fee for full access?).
I only have a small collection of Elongated Coins, or pressed pennies as they're sometimes called here (I'm only up to about the mid 30s in total), but I love to find them on the historic sites my wife and I visit all over the UK and sometimes in other European countries. It's always great to hear from other enthusiasts. so please keep on posting your finds. I've been adding a page for new exonumia finds each month under https://en.numista.com/forum/topic157775.html (although I missed this month due to a family bereavement - Thanks ZacUK for adding it for March). Maybe that's a good place to add a quick snap shot when you make a new discovery?
Looking forward to seeing what you find next. LDC
