What looks like a (hammered) ancient/medieval coin

Hi folks,

would you be able to help ID this non-magnetic coin. Size is ~20.5 mm. Weight 1.42 g. 
 

I see REX on one side and something that looks like AEDRIC on another. 
 

no idea if this is real or even a coin - picked it up at an estate sale. 

 Looks like a museum copy, too shiny. 

On sale in gift shops, as a souvenir of the visit. 

Looks like AVERY REX on first side. 

 May be a genuine coin still - will see what others think.
