Great Britain One Pound 1983-2000

Hello everyone.

This is my first post, maybe I don't understand/know everything. I have coins. But I don't understand if they can be more expensive than face value. On the eBay website, I see cosmic prices for similar coins. 

Perhaps someone has time to take a look and evaluate?

They are not rare. They are only worth face value. 

Don't believe what you see on Ebay regarding “Edge letters upside down”.

That is a total and utter furphy.

To add on to the previous post, they are considered a little more rarer in my opinion because they were withdrawn from circulation because they were prone to being counterfeited. Maybe slightly higher that face value but nothing to major.

They are worth €1 or €2s in better condition. Some pound coins more €6-€10 in AU (almost Uncirculated) & uncirculated. But yours are not worth these prices.

Also they are not worth face value as these round coins were withdrawn and the date to spend them in the UK has passed, you might be able to exchange them still somewhere in the UK but you would have to check UK websites for information.

It is also true that eBay ridiculous prices are just stupid, if you put all 5 up for sale you might get a euro or two, more if you are lucky. If you tried to sell them to a coin dealer you would get nothing.

Unless of course there is a rare variety, different lettering or something unusual about one of the coins like a mint error, then one of them might be worth more - but as for finding that out you need to evaluate, learn, find prices and enjoy the experience yourself.

They are worth £1 each as they are still legal tender and you can take them to a Bank and they will give you face value.
